Netball and the Club

How do I become a member?
You can find our membership form here.

Who can play?
Anyone 18 years and older, please contact us if you are under 18 and want to play. All genders are welcome in the club. 

Do I need to know how to play before?
No! Anyone with any or no experience is welcome.

Where are you playing? 
We alternate between Malmö and Lund and try to spread out our activities equally over the year. However, this is subject to availability of a hall so we plan which city to be in depending on availability. 

Is it inside or outside? 
When the weather is nicer over summer and early autumn we play outside, providing it's not raining. 

Do I need to do anything before coming to play?
No, you are welcome to message us beforehand, so we know that an extra person is coming for the games. Just make sure you have your shoes, clothes, short nails (if you hold up your hands and we can see your nails they are too long) and no jewellery (rings, piercings, necklaces, bracelets and anything else like watches and fitbits etc).

Does my height matter?
No. Learn to work any height to your advantage, it is part of the fun.

Does it cost anything? 
Your first two sessions are free of charge. If you would like to join the club after that then our fee structure is as follows:

The base fee for joining the club is 200SEK for the year. 100SEK goes to Netball Sweden to pay for your insurance and an affiliation fee to Sweden Netball. The remaining 100SEK is a membership fee to Skåne Netball Club. This is payable once a year before your third session. Sweden Netball Club arranges our insurance, joint events and fundraising with all Swedish club. They are responsible for liaising with Netball Europe, supporting club with media, and providing free help and base equipment for new clubs across Sweden as well as supporting the start of Swedish league events so it's a very important partnership for us. 

Each term there is also a playing fee which covers, for example, the hall hire, equipment, contributions towards open days, prizes or giveaways to club members, and possible subsidisation for competitions, courses or travel to games. It may include some or all of these examples, or other costs which appear through the year. This fee is payable twice a year - Spring term and Autumn term. For 2024 the fee is 500kr a term although some concessions are listed in out membership fee. 

If you would like to join as a member but aren't sure if you'll play this term or next term you can pay the annual membership fee and top up with the term fees or a klippkort (five sessions to use any time in current year).
We are pleased to offer a reduce rate to students and even partner clubs. As of yet this discount is available to the Malmö AFL team but can be expanded to other clubs who we form a partnership with. Speak to the treasurer about possible partnerships. 

Finally we understand that it can be hard to pay fees for any number of reasons. If you would like to play but feel that the fee is prohibitive then please send in a form and contact us to discuss either a payment plan or a possible reduced fee. Sports should be accessible to all and offers an important social forum so we don't want anyone to feel excluded.

In total, for a standard membership, the fee is 1200SEK. If you would like to pay for the whole year upfront then let us know. If you need a receipt you can also drop us an email.

Code of Conduct 

By becoming a member of the club you accept the code of conduct and understand that a written warning or suspension may be given for repeated or serious breaches of this code. 

1. Sportsmanship and Respect

• Treat teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect and courtesy.
• Adhere to the principles of fair play, honesty, and good sportsmanship at all times.
• Celebrate successes and acknowledge the efforts of all players, regardless of skill level.

2. Inclusivity and Diversity

• Embrace players of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and diversities.
• Encourage a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued.
• Work collaboratively to create an atmosphere that fosters team spirit and unity.

3. Communication with the Club

• Report any concerns, issues, or incidents promptly to the executive committee
• Immediately alert the trainer if there are any issues during training

4. Non-Political and Non-Religious Environment

• SNC is a non-political and non-religious club.
• Refrain from making political or religious statements to the entire club or using club platforms for such discussions.
• Engage in private conversations about personal beliefs and ideologies without imposing them on the entire team.
• Always seek permission from the club to promote other events and ideologies

5. Private Conversations

• Recognize the right of individuals to have private conversations about with teammates
• Avoid addressing the entire club with personal or sensitive discussions, keeping the team environment focused on netball and shared goals.
• Should a conflict arise between two members deal with it immediately and respect the boundaries of other members

6. Enjoyment and Development

• Foster an environment where enjoyment and personal development are prioritized.
• Encourage a positive and supportive atmosphere that allows each player to reach their full potential.

7. Photography and filming

• Consent: Always seek explicit permission before taking someone's photo. If consent is not given then do not take photos of teammates even if they will not be posted.
• Inclusion: When capturing group photos, ensure that individuals who have declined to be photographed are not included. Respect their wishes and privacy.
• Club Social Media Posting: Official club social media accounts may post photos based on both verbal and written consent from members. Written consent is obtained through the membership form. Members have the right to revoke their consent at any time by notifying the club via email.
• Individual Member Social Media Posting: When posting photos on personal social media accounts, members are expected to obtain consent from individuals featured in the photos. Be mindful of privacy settings and consider the preferences of fellow members. If consent is not given then photos must not be posted

8. Nails and jewelry

• In accordance with the rules of netball jewelry should be removed
• Earrings and piercings should be taped or removed
• For the safety of others nails should be cut short

9. First Aid, Medical Conditions, and Incident Reporting

• Report any injuries, allergies, or serious illnesses to the coach or tor committee
• Medication that may need to be administered by someone else needs to be explained to the club and the coach 
• In case of injury, promptly fill in the incident book with details to facilitate proper documentation.
• Only paying members are insured, and details regarding insurance coverage can be provided upon request.

10. Volunteers 

• Respect that the clubs is run by volunteers who also work or study full time, issues and emails will be dealt with as fast as possible but sometimes this may take a while 
• Club trainings, socials, events and competetions rely solely on the organisation of a small team of volunteers so if the club doesn't have enough then please respect that there will be a limited programme
